Storyboard plan

From the previous lesson when we learnt how to create storyboards on Canva, I started getting ready for my project by creating a storyboard to give me a rough idea of what format my video will follow. I used various different cartoons to illustrate me and my friends and hopefully what some of the shots/final video will end up looking like.

11-10-21

In this lesson we used Canva to create a storyboard online, this gives an opportunity to those who cannot draw to create a neat storyboard with using online graphics and tools. I felt as if I will definitely be using this for the planning of my 'How to' Video in the future as my drawing skills aren't strong.

Bullet Point Plan

  • Introduction, me talking to the camera (medium full shot) explaining what the video is about, who is in the video and possibly where we are shooting
  • 1st shot-Establishing shot
  • 2nd shot- Full shot
  • 3rd shot-Medium Close up
  • 4th shot-High Angle
  • 5th shot-Close Up
  • 6th shot- Medium Full

Me showing where you would take the photo from and then a screen recording of my phone taking the photo and then putting the actual photo and/or video footage in. (all with a voice-over explaining why people use the shot and how to take it successfully).

LOCATION RECCE (RECONNAISSENCE)

SCOUTING OUT

Q - What were your first thoughts when looking at the location(s)? (Online & In Person)

A - I thought that it was a convenient location as it is close to home. It is a visually pleasing environment as well as being very photogenic. I knew that I would get great looking photographs from the area.

PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE

Q - What pictures did you take of your location(s)? Please put them in this section and comment on why they are appropriate to film in.

 A - Not my images.

DIMENSIONS

Q - How big was the location? Does it fulfil all your needs for your project?

A - South Hill Park is 24 acres big.

LIGHTING

What was the quality of lighting like within the location? Was it natural (sunlight, fire) or artificial (bulbs/torches? Perhaps some pictures of what the lighting within the space with natural lighting and artificial lighting would be beneficial for your project?

Depending on the day lighting varies on the weather but I plan to film on a clear sunny day.

SAFETY

Q - How safe is the location? Is it near any roads? Is it in an area which is out of bounds? (REMEMBER FOR EVERY NEW LOCATION YOU ASSESS FOR YOUR PROJECT, YOU NEED TO HAVE A RISK ASSESSMENT AND LOCATION RECCE FORM THAT MATCHES THE LOCATION FOR THE PROJECT.)

A -The mansion side which I was on was not near any roads or dangers. It is also a public grounds.

Script

"Establishing shots are used to introduce a scene, and tells the viewer when and where the action is happening. They may use famous landmarks to indicate the city and where the scene is set. You should take your photo from far away so the viewer can see the background and where your subject may be"

"The next shot we are going to take is a full shot, a full shot is angle that captures the subjects whole body head to toe. From this you can analyse body language and actions while also being able to see their facial expressions."

"For this Medium Close Up shot I took it from behind Caitlin's shoulder to capture Neve's facial Expressions. Medium Close ups are used when someone is in a conversation or leaning in on a table or holding a coffee."

"The next angle is a high angle, these are used to create the feeling of a downfall of a character, they can be taken from above the character to create a narrative or emotionally drive you through a scene. The shot can be looking straight down or from a angle."

"Close ups are used when showing someones whole face usually them witnessing or showing a strong emotion. in this photo I am capturing a photo of Neve reading a book."

"The final camera angle I am showing you guys today is a medium full shot, medium full shots are from the knees up, they capture body language and emotion. They frame multiple subjects, and they show the character and setting.

· INTRODUCTION:
I have been asked to create a 'How to video' on one of the following subjects: Camera Angles, Sound recording, 3 Point Lighting,Setting up a camera. As it is a video it is going to be a moving image it is going to be shown on youtube so it is suitable for internet streaming. My plan should take around 3 minutes.

  • BASIC PLAN:

  • THEMES:
In my video I am going to do an easy guide to how to take photos from different camera angles.
  • AUDIENCE:
It is going to be for students and possibly beginners in the photography/film industry. It is going to be on youtube so anyone can watch it.
  • APPEALING CONTENT: My video was made for any age group, due to it not having any offensive language.
  • LEGAL, ETHICAL AND MORAL ISSUES: This does not apply as there is no plans on including any offensive content.
  • This video will be universal.

· TALENT/CONTRIBUTORS:
The people involved in my video are Caitlin, Neve and myself.
