Recording and Editing Sound
17-09-21
In our lesson we learnt how to record and edit audio, we used the digital recorder Zoom H4n to record our simple interviews . We learnt that things like your environment, the quality of the recording equipment, the placement of the microphone and the person using the equipment are all factors that could affect the sound quality. One of the main factors that could effect the sound quality is how big the room is which could cause a lot of reverb to reduce this, a small dry room could be more beneficial. The Zoom H4n uses a normal size SD to record onto, it has two microphones, you can also plug in to external microphones.
When editing our audio we used Adobe Audition, we learnt to crop, cut and cross-fading/blending audio to make a smooth recording. We then exported it as a WAV file to save onto the desktop.
Audio Tours
21-09-21
In our lesson we went around the college practising our audio skills and going to different areas talking about where we are and what subjects are in what area. We also took photos to capture what the areas look like. We used the Zoom H4n with a external clip-on microphone.
Script Writing
In the lesson today we made basic scripts of what we get up to in the morning and then we recorded us reading from our scripts on the H4N digital recorder.
Post-production Music editing
In this lesson we edited our teacher Paul's how to video by adding non-copyright music sound and making sure the audio wasn't too loud or too quiet compared to the music.
